A fun update from our music class: This past week some of our classes learned a Spanish dance called Los Machetes in honor of Cinco de Mayo. The fourth graders made a 2 liter bottle string instrument and learned how to "tune" the string to a note on the piano. The fifth graders made sock puppets and learned how to manipulate the puppet's mouth with their own voice as they sang the song "Mahna Mahna" from the Muppets. Mrs. Pratt, our counselor, spoke with students about how words have power. We see a lot of people using unkind words, and so many people are in pain because of it. Words can also give hope and have the power to make someone’s day, uplift, and encourage; they can help someone feel happier and more connected to one another.
